Burley Millennium Theatre Group  is a local amateur group which puts on around three shows a year

Our last show was  J B Priestley's classic drama, An Inspector Calls which was performed on three nights at the end of April 2008.  The show was a big success and played to over 100 people each night. The production is our entry for the Wharfedale Drama Festival and, in the preliminary written report, the assessor  said of the whole production that we achieved "a very high standard  indeed”.

Before this,  a much-praised production of Alan Bennett's Wind in the Willows was staged just before Christmas 2007 to four well-attended houses.

We perform mainly in the Queens Hall, Burley in Wharfedale, a West Yorkshire village between Otley and Ilkley.  Click here for a map.  We depend entirely on the skills and efforts of local people, not just for acting talent, but for the many other roles needed for the show to go on.  We hope to welcome new members whether you want to act, help out with costumes and stage management,or help out front of house. See "Join Us" for more information.

The next production at the Queens Hall was to have been in September 2008 , but this has had to be postponed due to major works of alteration and refurbishment to the Queens Hall stage which we cannot be sure would have been completed in time. The next show at the Queens Hall will therefore now be Treasure Island  in December this year.  The comedy, Holiday Snap, should now be performed some time in 2009.  See the What’s On section of the web site for more details.

Inspector (turning at the door) But just remember this.  One Eva Smith has gone—but there are millions and millions and millions of Eva Smiths and John Smiths still left with us, with their lives, their hopes and fears, their suffering and chance of happiness, all intertwined with our lives, with what we think and say and do.  We don’t live alone.  We are members of one body.  We are responsible for each other.  And I tell you that the time will soon come when, if men will not learn that lesson, then they will be taught it in fire and blood and anguish.  Goodnight.
